Beat the Heat Outdoor Team Fitness Competition

Looking for a fun day in the sun? 
Grab some buddies and sign up for this exciting outdoor competition! 
This event is open to all including crossfitters, runners, swimmers, weight lifters, triathletes and more..
If you enjoy exercising, then this competition is for you. 
There will be a competitive division for those teams looking for challenge, and an intermediate division for those teams looking for a fun event to do with their friends or family.

Date: July 11th, 2020
Time: 8:00am- 4:00pm
Location: Hays, Ks (Hays Aquatic Park, Frontier Park, and Pratt-Optimist Soccer Complex)

Teams of 4 - (2 Men/2 Women)
Cost: $300 per team 
Divisions: Competitive and Intermediate

*Shirts will be provided for each team member if registered before June 30th*


Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams in each division.
$800 CASH PRIZE-for 1st place team in Competitive Division


The competition is comprised of 7 Events including a swim workout, a ruck run/walk through the park, a lift on Main Street, and more!

Event WODS

Ruck Run

Each team will run together carrying a rope and a sandbag through the course. Participants are allowed to bring their own book bag/ruck to carry their own sand bag if they want, or they can just carry the sandbag with their hands or body through the course. If a member is caught dropping the rope throughout the run, the team will have to stop and do 5 synchronized burpees. The score is the time it takes for the whole team to cross the finish line! Competitive Teams: 1.25 mile run (men-20lbs/women-14lbs) Intermediate Teams: 1.00 mile run (men-14lbs/women-10lbs) Items to Bring: Bookbag/Ruck

Ups and Downs (Swim Event 1)

For time (10 min time cap): Competitive Teams: each member of the team will complete a 50m swim, one member at a time. The next team member in line to swim must wait until the member in front of them gets out of the water. Once everyone has completed the swim and is out of the pool, the team will complete 100 synchro plate ground to overheads, having one male and one female work together at a time. Team mates can switch members doing the repititions at any time they want while accumulating reps. (mens plate-35lbs/womens plate-25lbs) Intermediate Teams: 25m swim, 100 synchro plate ground to overheads (mens plate 25lbs/womens plate-15lbs)

Let it Burn! (Swim Event 2)

10 min AMRAP: (score is max goblet squats completed in 10 min) Competitive Teams: 50m swim one member at a time. Must wait for member to get out of the pool for the next swimmer to go. The first swimmer can go straight into completing 100 overhead lunges. As each member completes the swim, they can start helping the other member/s complete the 100 OH lunges. Only one member can work on the lunges at a time. Once the lunges are complete the team works on accumulating max dumbbell goblet squats with the time remaining. As with the lunges, only one member can work at a time on the goblet squats. (mens weight- 35lbs plate and 50lbs dumbbell/women's weight- 25lbs plate and 35lbs dumbbell) Intermediate Teams: 25m swim, 100 overhead lunges and max dumbbell goblet squats (mens weight- 25lbs plate and 35lbs dumbbell/women's weight- 15lbs plate and 20lbs dumbbell)

Cleaning on Main Street

Each team will have 11 minutes to find a clean complex max. Competitive Teams Clean Complex: 1 hang power clean+1 power clean+1 squat clean. Females will share a bar and have 5 minutes to each find their max with their clean complex. There will be a one minute rest and then males will share a bar and start their 5 minutes to find their max. Once weight is added on to the bar, the bar weight is not allowed to drop down to a lighter weight. Intermediate Teams Clean Complex: 1 power clean+1 hang power clean. Females will share a bar and have 5 minutes to each find their max with their clean complex. There will be a one minute rest and then males will share a bar and start their 5 minutes to find their max. Once weight is added on to the bar, the bar weight is not allowed to drop down to a lighter weight.

Insanity

Teams will have 12 minutes to complete as many rounds and reps as possible. The males will partner and the females will partner. Each pair will have a bar setup with a specific amount of weight to deadlift. The females will go first and split the reps of 30 deadlifts. The reps can be split up between the two athletes however they want. Once they completed their reps, the will clean all their weight and clips off their bars. The partners will then have to find a way to carry the bar, plates and clips 100 ft. Once they complete the carry the men may begin their deadlifts. This pattern will continue switching between females and males each round. Competitive: (135lbs-men/105-women) Intermediate: (95lbs-men/65lbs-women)

The Final March

Each team will have 20 minutes to complete stations setup across the field. They can partition the repetitions however they want. On the last station, teams will use whatever time they have left to collect as many calories on the bike as they can. Competitive- 20 min AMRAP -station 1: 80 Box Jump Overs (24 in box) -station 2: 100 Burpees to plate -station 3: 120 Sit ups -station 4: 100ft. Plate Pinch Carry (each member must complete one carry, going one at a time) (35lbs-men/25lbs-women) -station 5: Max Calorie Bike (with whatever time is left) Intermediate- 20 min AMRAP -station 1: 60 Box Step-Overs (20 in box) -station 2: 80 Burpees -station 3: 100 Sit ups -station 4: 100ft. Plate Pinch Carry (each member must complete one carry, going one at a time) (25lbs-men/15lbs-women) -station 5: Max Calorie Bike (with whatever time is left)
